DRUGSTORE MAKE-UP FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Hey loves! Today I’m bringing you my first ever first impressions post. I bought some new drugstore make-up the other day and I wanted to test it out for you all and let you know what I think. I’m the type of person who finds something I like and I stick to it for ages which is ironic because I’m a beauty blogger! I’ve used L’Oreal True Match for years now and I felt it was time for a change so I picked up the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and their concealer too. I also needed a new lip colour and wanted something different from lipstick because I have loads of them. I bought the Maybelline Colour Drama Intense Lip Paint and the Intense Velvet Lip Crayon.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Founderion and Concealer
I had heard amazing things about this foundation and although it’s been out for a long time – I still see it mentioned in a lot of beauty blogger’s favourites posts. I feel like because I’ve been using L’Oreal True Match for so long, it had started to make my skin look rather dull and grey when I had it on. My first impression of the ‘Wake Me Up Foundation’ was that I liked how it has an anti-fatigue and skin brightening formula and I hoped it would live up to that. When I first applied it I thought it was a bit thick and on reflection I think that’s because I was so used to my other foundation. However after now using it a couple of times I love the coverage and the way it applies on the skin. It definitely has a brightening effect and a dewy finish and genuinely does make my skin look fresher and less dull. The ‘Wake Me Up Concealer’ is also amazing and has a really nice creamy texture, it’s super easy to blend and is so brightening. I have definitely found my favourite new day to day base combo in these two and I would highly recommend them both! Just a tip too, I tried applying the foundation with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush but I felt like it was too dense for the formula so for a nice airbrushed finish I used the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Face Brush and it applied like a dream!

Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paint and Velvet Lip Crayon
As well as a new foundation I desperately needed a new lip product. I’ve been using the same lipsticks for a while now and wanted to try something different. After trying a million different swatches I decided on the Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Paint in the colour ‘610 Stripped Down’ which is a dusky pink/dark nude colour and I love it! The texture is super creamy and amazing. It has a glossy finish but isn’t sticky and lasts all day even after eating and drinking which I love! It has a little sponge felt tip applicator which makes it so easy to apply and on first impressions it is probably one of the easiest products to apply that I’ve ever used. The Velvet Lip Crayon is fabulous as well and in all honesty I’ve used it before so I can’t really call it a first impression however I haven’t used it in a long time but it’s just as fab as I remember. The formula is super soft and smooth it literally glides on and makes your lips looks so plump and nice. I got the colour ‘630. Nude Perfection’ and it really is the perfect brownish, nude tone. Again this is really easy to apply as it is a chunky crayon style. The only bad thing I can say about it is that of course you will have to sharpen it but it’s totally worth it.

I am definitely going to start reviewing and trying out different drugstore make-up for you all because it’s what I mostly use and the majority of my make-up bag is made up of drugstore products. Let me know if you enjoyed this post and would like more! Also remember to follow me on social media if you want to keep up with what I’m up to, my social media links are to the right on a PC or the bottom of the page on a mobile. Lots of love until next time,
