What I Wore: Justin Bieber Concert & Halloween DIY Mermaid Costume!

Good Morning lovelies! Happy Sunday to you all. I hope you’ve had a fabulous Halloween weekend. I have had a busy little week of work, prepping for Halloween, going to see Justin Bieber and also upgrading my blog! I am so pleased with how it looks now and I hope it is easier for you all to read and navigate with the new menu. As I was linking all my other posts into the new menu I noticed I haven’t done as many fashion posts as I would like so I thought I would do one today on what I wore to the Justin Bieber concert and how I created my own little Halloween costume last night as well.

So on Thursday, Kyle and I went to the SSE Hydro to see Justin Bieber and it was amaaaaazing. I absolutely love his music and it was a great show. Kyle actually got me tickets for Christmas last year so we had been waiting a long time for the concert! We were in the seating section so I thought why not throw on some heels (since I’m such a shorty and we wouldn’t have to stand all night). I wanted to find an outfit that was comfy yet stylish and dressy enough for a concert. For date nights and anything other than a clubbing night out I do love to wear trousers or a skirt because I feel like I alwaaaays wear dresses and it can be a bit boring and I end up with a wardrobe full of dresses I won’t wear again but I feel like with trousers and a top you can always mix and match them and wear them again for all different types of occassions. I was so excited when I found these gorgeous rose gold silky trousers from Missguided. I knew they would go perfect with my rose gold bomber jacket. I decided to team them with a simple black, off the shoulder crop top (always a staple piece in my wardrobe) which was also from Missguided and a pair of barely there style black heels from Primark. I did worry that trousers and bomber together would make me look like Honey G from the X Factor but I feel like it actually went pretty nicely together lol! Also with the top being long sleeved and the trousers being designed to sit up on your waist, I was able to take my jacket off without being too cold.

As you can see I am a sucker for anything rose gold and silky! I also love the sort of ‘sports luxe’ trend that is coming in just now and these trousers were bang on point with the jogger style ties and cuffs at the ankles yet the luxurious rose gold silk material and oversized pocket detail upgraded them to the perfect night out trousers!

For Halloween this year I was determined to make my own little costume up because last year was just complete and utter stress city trying to find an outfit. I actually almost got trampled on last year by a baying mob trying to scramble for the last XS nurse costume so I thought I would give that whole thing a miss this year and just do a lil DIY job and I am really pleased with how it came out. I wore this lovely pale pink, mermaid style dress to Kyle’s cousins wedding in July there and I thought what the heck I will be a mermaid with it. I decided to paint my face and was determined to be the most pink, girly, glittery, sassy mermaid around. I got all of my supplies at Claire’s who were doing a buy 3 get 3 free offer which was fab and obviously I went crazy and bought everything glittery they had in sight. I got some amazing pastel pink and pastel lilac glitter sprays which were actually for your hair but I used them on my face and neck and they worked fab!

For my make-up I did it as normal however I used my amazing Blushing Hearts blusher/highlighter to create a pink hue on my contoured areas so my cheekbones, collarbones and down the sides of my nose. For the eyes I did a dramatic wing (as always) and used a little glitter cream eyeshadow set I had (not sure where it is from gals sorry I got it for Christmas)! I used a combination of pink, lilac and silver glitter all over the lid then used loose irridescent glitter from Claire’s over the top and under my lower lash line. I then used the lightest shimmery shade from my MUA Innocence eyeshadow trio to highlight the brow bone and inner corners of my eyes. To create the ‘mermaid scales’ effect I used an old pair of fishnet tights I used last Halloween and put them over my head, then I used the lilac glitter first and sprayed over the top of the fishnets followed by the pink spray to create a sort of ombre-ish effect. As you can see I did this round the sides of my face, my forehead, my neck and my chest and I really love how it came out plus it was sooo easy to do! Then I took the little irridescent jewels I got in Claire’s as well and stuck them on in a row over my eyebrows, along the wing of my eyeliner and also just in the middle under my lower lash line. I then stuck some on my chest just dotted around randomly. To complete the look wore my mermaid style dress which I got from Lily Lulu Fashion  and also my faaaaaave heels from Public Desire which have the coolest mermaid look and glittery soles!
